Dum Maro Dum… Mit Jaye Gum… Balo Subah Shaam… Hare Rama… Hare Krishna

So true…. who had wondered that the whole world or the most of India would be singing this song in 2020… with and without the Dum. 😂.

Its been nearly 60 days that some of us are locked down… locked down in homes, locked down in India, locked down in Bharat.. locked down outside India… Many of them are still working,  day and night, relentlessly, to help us. And ofcourse there is one category of people who r the busiest of all… the work from home people. The manysome… or the awesome.

I am amongst the some and not from the many… and obviously not from the awesomes… Lucky enough to have no susbstainal work in lockdown, was like spending holidays in Rome. 🙄. So when you are living in Rome you ought to do what Romans do.😷. Quarantined.

Life was pretty cool in early stages of lockdown; eat, sleep and sleep, eat; It was all about getting use to the new way of living… Spending so much time with “Buddy“, “SweetHeart” alongwith “Brandy” was something different but nice…

It all started with the Janta Curfew, an experiment of making people stay in their respective homes amid this pandemic. The success of this led to (presumed) to Lockdown 1.0 where in anxiety, stress, insecurity and Jaan hai to Jahan hai ruled the minds of the people. New terms like Social Distancing, 2 Guj kee Doori were part of everyday vocabulary. All important things came to a stand still including human lives. There was no business happening. The stock market was crashing… The frontline warriors were facing the heat. The foodies were deprived of their sanjeevini butti, (the pizza).. 😁and not to forget the future economic drivers, the drunkards.

Amongst all this we saw the resurgence of one of the oldest mythological serial Ramayana on DD.

1.0 was followed by 2.0  (April 15th to May 3) and it divided the nation in two. India and Bharat… while utmost importance was given in taking care of Indians and the Non Indians … err .. the NRIs, the leaders had forgotten the Bharatiya… the Hindustani…  Frustatation was creeping up amongst them and was catching up the with Covid numbers… but we still were interested in Bollywood celebs work out videos.

The focus shifted to Jaan bhi, Jahan bhi…

Everyone had a part to play in making the sequel of lockdown 1.0 chaotic. Be it an atheist like me, the conservative religious fundamentalists or the confused decision makers, each one was responsible.

Amid all the chaos and confusion, Mahabharta had begun, both in and out of the TV.

Ramayana and Mahabharata, the two colossal mythologies features the “Maryada Purshotam” Lord Rama, and the “Intelligent” Lord Krishna, respectively. Both were avatars of Lord Vishnu… with contradicting personalities yet were the upholders of Dharma.

Rama was the seventh avatar of the Lord Vishnu and was born in Treta Yuga (innocent age), while Krishna was the eighth avatar born in the Dwapara Yug which was considered as a little corrupt and a darker age.

Things started changing in my home. I was renamed as Pitashree and my wife Matashree or Maate. My Buddy got so hooked to these series that he almost became the new age sanyasi… The avengers characters were replaced by the Pandavas /the Kauravas… / the Laksmans and the Bharats… These series were not only hit in my home but it was super duper blockbuster all across Bharat. The 1987 series (Ramayan) created a world record of 77 million views in a single day…

Lord Rama is an idealistic figure- a perfect son, a doting brother, a loving husband and a rightous king. He faced challenges amongst his family but never crossed the line and obeyed all the wrong doings with a prefect smile.

Contrary to this, Lord Krishna was as naughty as one could be. He was a practical God. He acted as a mentor/guide to the Pandavas and helped them to win a war aganist Adharam. He used all the tactics and strategies, if needed he was shrewd and a sweet talker at the same time.

The feeling was nice considering the impact of western idology  in our daily lives. This showed that we are still deep rooted with our culture. Both the Gods live in the heart of the fellow Indians…

JAI SHREE RAM and JAI SHREE KRISHNA are the most powerful chants in the Hindu philosophy… Unfortunately the former has been used as a tool to politicize human emotions attached to it. Most interestingly Rama’s emotions have been used intelligently through Krishna’s principle. The result, Ram was battling in the courtroom to prove his place of existence in the country whilst Krishna has found place in the subject of strategy in most mangement schools.

The experiences of the Lockdown has  made me really think about myself,  who am I, what do I want from life, how do I find myself. By adopting  Rama’s principles in life have I done the right thing. Or moving ahead in life should I follow Krishna?

I am not always right, I have my set of weaknesses which surrounds me, but what I proudly possess is my honesty sincerity and integrity (my Rambaans).

I trust everyone. But is it worth?  Is being emotional a curse in todays world. I have been following my heart that is why I have unknowingly chosen Rama’ path, going ahead would I ever recommend this path to my buddy??

There is a constant Mahabharata  in my mind, I am in still in the pursuit of finding my Krishna who will help me become Arjun from the existing Karna.

One thought which also creeps into my mind is to dump these two Avatars and be the original The Third eye. Eventually everyone likes his Prasad only. Didn’t we see that amid this crisis on May 4!!😁.

Till the time we all find our paths let us keep chanting Hare Rama… Hare Krishna…

Hare Rama… Hare Krishna…
